I really can't get over the stupidity multimedia has done recently. *sigh* Lets go though it shall we before we get to the other stuff. (As i publish this it seems more has occurred)

For the record i do read different countries news sites.
Fortunately there has also been these articles from the British Guardian:

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

[link][link]Oh dear, while you finally realise insulting the customer is not big nor clever, it seems between the lines you are still willing to make jabs at them, let alone refuse to adapt.
Forgive me for being cynical, but i am not convinced. Not just at films but at all multimedia. It difficult to get and use stuff because if its not one thing its another. If its not poor distribution, its super draconian copy protection. And that practice has been going on for many years. It causes disillusion and cynicism, and that doubles the customer's disgust at the industry.
So when will you learn, oh and the industry is partly the reason why the econamy hit the fan. Heck you still haven't apologised as well industry for all the damage you have done in 9 years.
Somebody parody the adverts when they come out and get them to realise that we are not easily fooled. I mean yes, they are finally not insulting us in public but they are still willing to pull a fast one elsewhere.

And so, the Society of Authors has fallen to the dark side of the internet. Because to the Society of Authors "THE INTERNET IS SERIOUS FUSSING BUSINESS!". Oh and just like the BPI, they fib in terms of saying they are a union since they are not listed on the TUC's register (Which most British unions are members of).
And since Scribd is based in the US, doesn't some of the rumoured adaptations fall under, i don't know, FAIR USE. And if not GREY AREA.
Though on a slightly serious note,it also shows we need to expand and develop alternatives to mainstream fiction and non-fiction.
AND JUST TO TOP IT UP

I see the distortion machine is at it again, it must be on overtime.
We have never, ever thought these companies were optional, but if the companies refuse to take on board the new technology, let alone give us products that we can buy with confidence, then what do you expect.
Plus realise that it was piracy that partly helped grow the internet to what it is today, it helped give us the broadband we all enjoy, why, because of DEMAND. If it wasn't for that demand, we would be mostly still on dial up.
And do you honestly think, that we consider those who create it secondary, not really, but if you continue to cheese us off by dissing us in any way, we will just respond in kind, boycotting your products and protesting is one of the many ways, sadly you consider that as "piracy". So what do you expect us to do?
How we can enjoy our products in confidence if you keep attacking us? The reason why some turn to piracy is because of the companies actions. It hasn't appeared out of the blue.
And with all this, i think a EPIC Facepalm is in order.
NO WAIT, I THINK THEY CAN GO LOWER
